Zaha Meriý, a prominent Tuszkean newspaper owner and editor, was assassinated during the afternoon of 5 March, 1934, just down the road from his home-in-exile in Vyfarla-sa-Eiwen. Targeted previously in 1931 and in 1933 by the Eporisya Malosom za Tuszkeya, Meriý was forced to move out of Reriskzeiy entirely for fear of being killed by members of the movement. He took up residence "in-exile" in a rather inconspicuous housing project in Eiwena, Vyfarla, but was apparently outed (unbeknownst to him) by a neighbor not long after settling down. As he walked home after a day at work, he was accosted by two members of the Impurist Movement. He attempted to escape from them, but was stabbed with a knife before he could flee, and was subsequently shot three times, the third bullet ultimately being fatal. Meriý was pronounced dead on-scene.
Although the shots were heard by neighbors, the suspects to the crime fled the scene and were never truly identified beyond being members of the Impurist Movement. Although the case was left open for almost thirty years, no suspects were ever formally charged, and no person ever confessed to having killed Meriý. The file was eventually closed in 1967, and to date no person has been connected to the attack.
Meriý's death was mourned heavily in Tuszke, and a national day of mourning was declared on the day after his death. A statue of his likeness was placed outside of the Keszanetaa Court Building in 1961, but had to be repaired heavily after the court was bombed in 1964 by a lone Impurist. The statue was placed back in front of the Court Building in 1966. Meriý was also posthumously featured on a stamp by the Kryfona government in 1984.
