The "Massacre of the Cabinet" (sometimes referred to as just the Massacre and the Great Letting-go) was the letting go of almost every significant cabinet member by Xeriren Awaseq between 27 May and 30 May, 1952. The mass-layoff, the largest dismissal of cabinet members in the history of the Kryfona Kingdom, was the byproduct of massive disagreement between Awaseq and most of the members of his cabinet. The largely loyalist cabinet–of his 30 cabinet members 21 were loyalist–vehemently opposed most of his agenda, and in doing so, effectively halted the monarchic branch of the Kingdom. Awaseq, then unknowingly in the final year of his life, opted to take decisive action against his cabinet, and on May 26th announced he would begin to lay off members of his cabinet if they refused to follow his agenda. When his cabinet almost unanimously denounced him after this statement, he took action.

The total number of people laid off by party affiliation was 11 KLP, 1 KRP, and 1 YKM. The single royalist who was fired was Pelgozs, who had previously stated his opposition to aspects of the Awaseq agenda. Hobarga was the YKM member, and called his ousting "unjust to an extraordinary level" when he was informed of it.
An additional 4,000 people lost their jobs after Awaseq, in a final act on 1 June, terminated the "Jezkapils" Act, an ad hoc proposal-turned-legislation which originated with Jezkapils. A thousand of these jobs were border guards, who were assigned to the recently-built Border Wall of the South, while the other three thousand were laborers assigned to renovate the wall. The termination of this act enraged the labor unions and the Ministry of Labor under royalist Marzi Haszijkabe, resulting in a general strike being declared by the Workingman's Labor Union on 3 June, 1952.
More furious than the labor unions and the Ministry of Labor was the Kryfona Loyalist Party, which saw the act as not only blatantly partisan, but actively undermining the interests of the Kryfona Kingdom. Massive loyalist protests spontaneously occurred on the evening of 29 May, 30 May, and 1 June before coordinated protesting against the actions of the Awaseq government began. Violence, although not intended, was an inevitable product. Particularly serious violence began in kind on 1 June in Uszyaa when a protest turned into a large riot. Six people were killed in the event, and almost seven city blocks were either looted or put to the torch before the situation was controlled. Similar events occurred in many provinces, in what came to be known as the "Bloody Week." A total of 76 people, including the six in Uszyaa, were killed in riots that occurred between 1 June and 15 June.
In the Kryfonsparliszaiye, the loyalists were whipped into a frenzy by the events. On 3 June, the party attempted to pass a motion of no-confidence against Awaseq; it was barely voted down by a margin of 43-38, with a few anti-loyalists within the KLP ranks deciding the vote. A second motion on 4 June, aimed at the monarchic branch in general, was also only just voted down 41-40. Finally, however, the third motion on 5 June passed by a razor thin majority of 41-40. Royalists decried the motions as an abuse of power and the tyranny of the majority–at the time, the KLP and YKM were in a coalition government. Awaseq himself did not publicly denounce the motion, saying only that it was "a sad day for the stability of the Kryfona Kingdom," but it is known in private that he lashed out heavily against the motions.
On 6 June, 1952, the High Court of the Kryfona Kingdom declared that it was investigating the legality of Awaseq's firings, at the request of the KLP and YKM. Royalists also declared this to be a clear abuse of power, although many of them in private agreed that Awaseq had overstepped his bounds in choosing to fire so many people in such a partisan way.
