The Crisis of Rogdin was a political crisis that broke out in the Kryfona Kingdom when, troubled by his failure to control the Yaraan Secession Crisis and sensing an oncoming political collapse, then-king Rogdin Lunaerterijalis committed suicide on 5 February, 1806. Although there were provisions in place to quickly replace Rogdin–and indeed, he was quickly replaced–his suicide sent ripples through the Kryfona public, and greatly shook the conscience of both the nation and the army which at the time was still trying to control Yaraa. As a consequence, the campaign against the remaining Yaraan secessionist groups screeched to a halt and did not continue for a number of weeks afterwards, and the Kryfonsparliszaiye convened to deliberate on whether or not to end the war effort and in essence, capitulate to the Yaraans. Ultimately, however, the war effort continued at the behest of Rogdin's successor, Trenjiasov Mikoszaakide, and the Yaraan secessionists were eventually defeated in November of 1806.

Upon his appointment as King of the Kryfona Kingdom, Mikoszaakide ordered a mourning period of three days, and ordered the Kryfonsparliszaiye home. Although many MPs were against the idea, they ultimately stood down on the matter and the Kryfonsparliszaiye adjourned itself; it never voted on its confidence in the war effort. Mikoszaakide was also slow to restart the war, only handing out orders two weeks after Lunaerterijalis' death. Much of the time in between was spent refurbishing the monarchy's cabinet, and organizing Lunaerterijalis' funeral. He was ultimately buried with full military honors on 14 February, 1806.

Rogdin Lunaerterijalis is, to date, the only Kryfona monarch to commit suicide, and the only monarch to die of unnatural causes during their reign.

Background

Although it was not known well–and perhaps not even known at all–to the public of the Kryfona Kingdom, the mental health and mental stability of Rogdin Lunaerterijalis had long been in question by those close to him. Although he had never been formally diagnosed with any mental or physical illness, by the outbreak of the Yaraan Secession Crisis in 1802, it was clear that there were a number of troubles that he faced in both regards. He was frail, and fairly weak; he was established as having suffered from tremors and occasionally being forgetful by a physical assessment taken in 1801. He was also by then well known for his bursts of deep sadness, which often were seemingly unprompted–one such burst in 1796 was so severe that Rogdin's cabinet was notified that his death might soon occur. This was ultimately not the case.
