The city of Ratinethos (Drakona: ʊ̆ɾȷɤ̆ɾ̆ɛ; Drakona pronunciation: Listeni/rɑ.tɪ.nɛ.θ.s/) is the largest city and capital of the Adborthos Republic. Often regarded as the center of modern Drakona culture, the city was first settled sometime around the year 500 by a small band of Drakona who had accidentally ventured beyond the borders of the Dal-Tetas. For the first few hundred years of its existence, Ratinethos was a small and exceptionally isolated town; however, when the Dal-Tetas collapsed upon the conclusion of the Dal-Tetas war in 1099, Ratinethos was inundated by a flood of refugees which subsequently made it a regional powerhouse. Between the years 1101 and 1581, Ratinethos operated as a de facto city-state, albeit one which remained isolated until shortly before the 1500s.

Ratinethos became a capital city of the Adborthosi Drakona in 1581, when First Adborthos Republic was declared by Adana Yedana. Although during this time it explosively grew, it also suffered during the many revolts of the day. In 1679, the city was virtually leveled by the Homaite Revolt, and in 1771 was likewise destroyed by the Yolathosi Revolution. Under the monarchy, things settled down significantly, and during this time Ratinethos became the ground-zero for a cultural revolution, part of which was Anetaralaism. In 1802, the monarchy moved from Etethos to Ratinethos.

During the 1900s, Ratinethos became the center of the contemporary Anetaralaist movement. The Anetaralasi Union was founded in Ratinethos in 1901, and for most of the century dominated politics in the city. The extremism that eventually poisoned many of the Anetaralaist movement's members is believed to have originated with this dominance. In 1972, the Ratinethos suburb of Kedal was the site of an assassination attempt on Kaila Gatil and her cabinet by Anetaralasi extremists. In 1974, Ratinethos was the battleground for the coup which killed Gatil, and allowed Radina Nenathosin to establish a military dictatorship and start the Adborthos War.

In November of 1974, the army under Nenathosin pushed the Arieles back in the Battle of Ratinethos. Soon after, in July of 1977, Ratinethos came under prolonged siege, during which Nenathosin was killed and Ratinethos was again leveled. The Second Republic was established on November 3rd, 1977. Since then, Ratinethos has been rebuilt entirely, becoming one of the wealthiest and most prosperous cities in all of the Adborthos Republic.
