The Kryfona Kingdom is a federal constitutional monarchy in which de jure the powers of the federal government ultimately belong to the monarchy, but which de facto shares, diffuses, and checks the powers of the federal government between three branches: Monarchic, Judiciary, and Legislative. In some cases, and with some provinces, the federal government of the Kryfona Kingdom shares or delegates certain powers to provincial governments.

The Monarchic branch is headed by the Monarch of the Kryfona Kingdom, and de jure the Monarchic branch has final say on most matters of government. In practice, however, many of the powers delegated to the Monarchic branch are today shared by the Monarchic branch with one of the other branches or otherwise checked by one of the other branches. The Monarchic branch contains both the Office of the Monarchy–through which Monarchic matters are run–as well as the Cabinet of the Monarchy, whose positions are appointed by the Monarch. Legislative power is vested in the Legislative branch, which consists of just the Kryfonsparliszaiye, the Kingdom's legislative body. The Judiciary branch, consisting of the High Court–the highest court in the Kingdom–as well as its Office, interprets standing laws and any laws passed by the Legislative branch, and determines their constitutionality under Kryfona law.

By law, only six parties are eligible to participate in federal elections, and parties deemed as eligible are known in Kryfona politics as federal parties. The six modern federal parties are the Kryfona Royalist Party, the Kryfona Loyalist Party, the United Kryfona Party, the Yaraan Kryfon's Movement, the Pažem Tuszkeya, and the Aryela Party. Historically, the two dominant parties in Kryfona politics and Kryfona elections have been the KRP and the KLP, and until 1903 the Kryfona Kingdom was a two-party state by law. The law was first amended in 1902, raising the bar to 3 parties, and then was amended again in 1962 and 1981, changing the numbers to 5 and then 6 respectively. At the sub-federal level, there are an estimated 100+ major and minor parties, and non-federal parties typically dominate provincial legislatures.

The Kryfona Kingdom is unique among the pseudo-democracies of the Old World. Owing to a separation of governance between the provincial level and the federal level of governance, traditionally federal parties do not finance campaigns for down-ballot seats; there is no incentive for them to do so in many cases. Nonetheless, representatives of the federal parties may opt to run and in many cases do so at the provincial level, typically in efforts to advance potential future federal campaigns. For many federal party members running at the provincial level, provincial elections essentially act as a sandbox to gain political experience and test strategies. Around half of all the seats at the provincial level are controlled by federal party members.
