The Aryela Party (Kryfona: Aryela Paszem /ˈɑrˌjɛ.læ ˈpæˌsɛm/; Arieles: Aryelas Parsem /ˈɑrˌjɛ.lɑs ˈpɑhˌsɛm/; AP) is one of the six parties in the Kryfona Kingdom which currently holds seats in the Kryfonsparliszaiye, and by a large margin the most liberal of the six. The party was officially founded by Serikava Ceudienkõn in 1985 as a branch of sub-federal Aryela Front, and through a large deal of activism on the part of its members and other Aryela groups in the Kryfona Kingdom became the sixth federal party in early 1987. Although the party is the first federal party to represent the Arieles minority in the Kryfona Kingdom, the foundations of the party were established as early as 1841, with the crowning of king Werykoev Ceudininkon.

Because of how recently it was founded, the Aryela Party has a relatively uneventful history. As a result of large-scale campaigning by the Arieles minority, the party won its first seat (the Aryela constituency) in the 1987 election, with party leader Layăn Togirika holding that seat. The party doubled its seat number in 1993, when it also won the Arieles majority constituency of Middle Seuyastazal, and since then, the party has held and retained both in every election. The party historically has only had two candidates running in any given election; it was only with the most recent elections in 2011 that the party fielded more than that number. During 2011, the party ran ten candidates, mostly in the hopes of getting the word out about the party more than winning seats.

The Aryela Party has been led by only a single leader thus far–the 59 year old Layăn Togirika–who has been the front of the party since its founding in 1985. Togirika has stated that he will resign no later than age 70, and his successor will be current secretary of the party Velyie Deõgiru, who is 30.[1] Under the leadership of Togirika, the Aryela Party has been an unequivocally neutral party,[2] and as such does not align itself with other parties. The party officially is a member of the opposition, but does not generally vote with the KRP and KLP, the other two opposition parties.

History

The Aryela Party was originally founded as the Aryela Front of Reasz on 17 July, 1985 in the city of Reasz. Serikava Ceudienkõn, the leader of the Aryela Front, is generally credited as having founded the organization, but as he almost immediately handed the position of leader to Layăn Togirika, Togirika is sometimes given the credit. The branch had been a long time coming: even in the early years of the Aryela Front, the organization had wanted to expand from its comparatively small hometown of Aryela. Plans for the Reasz branch had been submitted to the committee at the top of the Front as early as 1970, but it was not until 1985—the height of the Aryela Front—that the party managed to find enough money to fund such a move.

At the time, Layăn Togirika was about halfway up the leadership structure of the party. He had joined the Front in 1982, and had moved up the ranks of the party relatively quickly in part because of his intelligence and charisma. Ceudienkõn was certainly privy to this charisma, and although Togirika was not yet a higher-up of the party, Ceudienkõn decided to appoint Togirika to the position of leader of the new branch in Reasz. Togirika reluctantly accepted—he had never been in a position of power before that point, even has a middling member of the Aryela Front—and resolved that his leadership would be temporary, and that he would delegate power to someone else when he found a better person to run the Front in Reasz.[3]

As the Aryela Front of Reasz

Between 1985 and 1986, the branch formally operated as the Aryela Front of Reasz. Officially, the party began working to spread Aryelaism—the official ideology of the Aryela Front—on 20 July after the general structure of the branch was set up by Togirika. He appointed Mazijen Zalye as the secretary of the branch. When the branch began operating, it had a total staff of just 15 people.

Things were slow going for about the first half year of the branch's existence. In part because of its small size, the general lack of support from the main party, and the fact that the party was operating in a considerably less pro-Arieles environment, the party did not arouse much in the way of a splash. Reasz at the time was a reliably royalist city, which was wholly incompatible with the tenets of Aryelaism. Even the Arieles minority within the city was relatively conservative at the time, having been served for almost 30 years by the Aryela Conservative Front by the time the Aryela Front established its chapter there.

Political positions

The Aryela Party is the farthest-left party in the Kryfona Kingdom at the federal level, and holds almost exclusively liberal positions on issues.
